Here at Alqueva,
opportunities are fresh

"Alqueva means starting again for me, because when faced with the need
for professional reorganisation, I created my own job in agriculture, and set
myself up in the zone irrigated by Alqueva Dam. My goal from the beginning
was to take advantage of the opportunities created by Alqueva and implement
agriculture based on irrigation and new crops. EDIA has been a key partner
in the development of my project and since the first decision-making stage.
It has provided full support and presented solutions, such as aiding the search
for land, and it is currently providing total and immediate support in solving
various irrigation-related needs and problems

favourably surprised those who have been growing this crop for many years,
but have also driven new investors and producers to invest in the region,
recognising its high production potential."

"I prefer to use the expression "agro-food sector” at this stage,
which is slightly more ample and broader than agriculture. We have soils
with good conditions,we have areas irrigated by Alqueva and I think
that agriculture and agro-food products have to be an important pillar
for the region’s development."
