opportunities are fresh
Home_Irrigation_Area currently Farmed_
The Alqueva Multi Purpose Alqueva Project irrigated about 120,000 hectares of land. The increase in the irrigated area has made it possible to progressively change the farming model of Alentejo, traditionally based on dry farming but now, with the guarantee of water from Alqueva, new opportunities are generated in irrigated crops and this opens the doors to agro-industry.
The irrigation areas of Alqueva, equipped with modern remote management techniques, provide the farmer not only with the guarantee of water but also
the ability to obtain real-time information and adapt irrigation to their needs at any moment in time.
